    <Paragraph position="0"> The descriptions of a significant fragment of German above seem to be a good basis for a translation system. The functional structures created in our system can easily be mapped onto deep syntactic predicate-argument-structures which are enriched by semantic information. From there transfer should happen.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> As far as the treatment of unbounded dependencies is concerned there might be some problems in transfer. Certain pied piping phenomena and multiple wh-movement might make necessary a more powerful mechanism.</Paragraph>
