<Paragraph position="0"> We described a rule-based approach to open text semantic parsing. The semantic parser has the capability to analyze the semantic structure of a sentence, and show how the meaning of the entire sentence is composed of smaller semantic units, linked by various semantic relations. The parsing process relies on rules derived from a frame dataset (FrameNet) and a semantic network (WordNet). We believe that the semantic parser will prove useful for a range of language processing applications that require knowledge of text meaning, including word sense disambiguation, information extraction, question answering, machine translation, and others.</Paragraph>
