    <Paragraph position="0"> We have shown in this paper how the problem of bilingual lexicon extraction from comparable corpora could be interpreted in geometric terms, and how this view led to the formulation of new solutions. We have evaluated the methods we propose on a comparable corpus extracted from the CLEF colection, and shown the strengths and weaknesses of each method. Our final results show that the combination of relatively simple methods helps improve the average precision of bilingual lexicon extraction methods from comparale corpora by 10 points.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> We hope this work will help pave the way towards a new generation of cross-lingual information retrieval systems.</Paragraph>
