</SectionTitle>
    <Paragraph position="0"> We have proposed a method for translating NN compounds which compositionally generates translation candidates and selects among them using a target language model based on corpus statistics and a translation model based on bilingual dictionaries.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> Our SVM-based implementation was shown to out-perform previous methods and be robust over low-frequency NN compounds for JE and EJ translation tasks.</Paragraph>
