<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <Paper uid="W04-2709"> <Title>Interlingual Annotation of Multilingual Text Corpora</Title> <Section position="10" start_page="3" end_page="3" type="concl"> <SectionTitle> 9 Conclusions </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> This is a radically different annotation project from those that have focused on morphology, syntax or even certain types of semantic content (e.g., for word sense disambiguation competitions). It is most similar to PropBank (Kingsbury et al 2002) and FrameNet (Baker et al 1998). However, it is novel in its emphasis on: (1) a more abstract level of mark-up (interpretation); (2) the assignment of a well-defined meaning representation to concrete texts; and (3) issues of a community-wide consistent and accurate annotation of meaning.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> By providing an essential, and heretofore nonexistent, data set for training and evaluating natural language processing systems, the resultant annotated multi-lingual corpus of translations is expected to lead to significant research and development opportunities for Machine Translation and a host of other Natural Language Processing technologies including Question-Answering and Information Extraction.</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
