    <Paragraph position="0"> We have presented a novel approach to named entity detection and disambiguation that exploited the untapped potential of an online encyclopedia. Experimental results show that using the Wikipedia taxonomy leads to a substantial improvement in accuracy. The application of the new named entity disambiguation method holds the promise of better results to popular web searches.</Paragraph>
