    <Paragraph position="0"> This paper describes our exploratory study of applying semantic constraints derived from attribute-value pair annotations to traditional term-based document retrieval. It shows promising results in our test domain where users have specific information needs. In our ongoing work, we are expanding the test topic set for the strict judgment as well as the data set, improving AV extraction accuracy, analyzing how the combined system improves upon individual systems, and exploring alternative ways of combining semantic constraints and terms for better retrieval.</Paragraph>
