<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <Paper uid="W06-3106"> <Title>Phrase-Based SMT with Shallow Tree-Phrases</Title> <Section position="9" start_page="44" end_page="45" type="concl"> <SectionTitle> 6 Conclusion </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> We presented a pilot study aimed at appreciating the potential of Tree-Phrases as base units for example-based machine translation.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> We developed a translation engine which makes use of tree-phrases on top of pairs of source/target sequences of words. The experiments we conducted suggest that TPs have the potential to improve translation quality, although the improvements we measured are modest, yet statistically significant. Weconsideredonlyonesimpleformoftreeinthis study: depth-one subtrees. We plan to test our engine on a repository of treelets of arbitrary depth.
