    <Paragraph position="0"> The theory I am developing is based on these and similar analyses of a large number of human protocols. Because the same inference types recur in many different answers, it is possible to abstract the systematic patterns in the inferences  themselves, and many of the different conditions that affect people's certainty in using different inference types.</Paragraph>
