    <Paragraph position="0"> We have found that the success rate for gr~mmatically annotating the LOB corpus using probabilistic techniques for lexical disambiguation is surprisingly high and we have consequently endeavoured to apply similar techniques to provide a constituent analysis.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1">  Corpus data provides us with the rich variety of extant Eaglish constructions that are the real test of the grammarian's and the computer programmer's skill in devising an automatic parsing system.</Paragraph>
