    <Paragraph position="0"> The research we have been engaged in has forced us to explicate a complex set of commonsense concepts. Since we have done it in as general a fashion as possible, we may expect that it will be possible to axiomatize a large number of other areas, including areas unrelated to mechanical devices, building on this foundation. The very fact that we have been able to characterize words as diverse as &amp;quot;range', &amp;quot;immediately', &amp;quot;brittle', ~operate&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;wear&amp;quot; shows the promise of this approach.</Paragraph>
