Conclusion </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> This paper has proposed a lexical choice system that searches for lexical units that are accurate, valid, and preferred with respect to the information the generation system wishes to communicate (To-Communicate), and the object or event being lexicalized (Entity). This system is more robust than discrimination nets and other existing classification-based lexical choice systems, and in particular is less likely to make inappropriate lexical choices that lead human readers to infer unwanted conversational implicatures. The improved performance is largely a consequence of the fact that the system allows a clean separation to be made between what the system knows, and what it wishes to communicate; and the fact that the system allows lexical choice to be biased towards preferred lexical units.</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
