    <Paragraph position="0"> An iterative algorithm for estimating the parameters of a hidden stochastic context-free grammar has been described, which is a generalization of the F/B algorithm and the I/O algorithm. The algorithm reduces to the F/B algorithm for finite-state grammars, and to the I/O algorithm when a context-free grammar is expressed in Chomsky normal form.</Paragraph>
