    <Paragraph position="0"> This paper has proposed a method for creating an abstract by using surface features and their weights to select important sentences, and a method for determining these \[eature weights by multiple-regression analysis of abstracts created by humans. By using the proposed method to calculate feature weight, this system can be applied to other types of texts, and gives results ntore similar to those of a human process than a set of weights based on human intuition.</Paragraph>
