    <Paragraph position="0"> In this paper we presented a first approach to achieve robust processing in VERBMOBIL using clarification dialogues. We presented three problems that can be resolved using clarification: phonological ambiguities, unknown words and semantic inconsistencies.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> In the next prototype of the VERBMOBIL system we will additionally incorporate methods to resolve lexical and referential ambiguities. Also, we will tailor the interaction to different user classes.</Paragraph>
