    <Paragraph position="0"> We have discussed three diverse applications in which proper name recognition as embodied in NameTag has played an important role. Clearly, the identification of names can improve the performance of other algorithms and systems. In return, the nature of the application in which name recognition is being used affects whether the name recognition should aim at high coverage or high accuracy.</Paragraph>
