Tesni~re's theory seems to provide a useful descriptive framework for syntactic phenomena occurring in various natural languages. We apply the theory and develop the representation to meet the requirements of computerised parsing description. Si- null multaneously, we explicate the formal properties of Tesni~re;s theory that are used in constructing a practical parsing system.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> A solution to the main obstacle to the utilisation of the theory, the linearisation of the syntactic structure, is presented. As a case study, we reformulate the theory for the description of coordination and gapping, which are difficult problems for any comprehensive syntactic theory. null</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
