    <Paragraph position="0"> Relationship questions represent a new class of information needs formally introduced as a subtask in the NIST-sponsored TREC QA evaluations in 2005 (Voorhees, 2005). Previously, they were the focus of a small pilot study within the AQUAINT program, which resulted in an understanding of a &amp;quot;relationship&amp;quot; as the ability for one object to influence another. Objects in these questions can denote either entities (people, organization, countries, etc.) or events.
